THE whirling mass of delusions, fantasies, hang-ups, fears and lies now swirling around the figure of Vice President Sara Duterte and the nation's politics, could settle down and allow for resolution, if our politicians, administration and opposition alike could desist from being misled by misguided beliefs and notions, and spend more time to understand clearly law and reality in our constitutional system.

The only point to add is that the center of the vortex is empty, a vacuum.

Cynosure of all eyes

With its meaning clearly in tow, I feel entitled therefore to use the vortex as a metaphor for the state of Philippine politics today.

Standing today as the cynosure of attention and the news is the somewhat bewildered figure of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Like a spider, she draws into her web the energy and agitation of her political allies and partisans, and her political family, and she has become as well the singular focus and concern of critics and opponents
