    Overview

    Jeremy Corbyn was first elected as the Labour MP for Islington North in 1983, being reelected in 2019 with a majority of 26,188. He served as Leader of the Labour Party between 2015 and 2020.

    Having led Labour to their worst election performance since 1935 at the 2019 General Election, Corbyn stood down as Labour leader.

    Corbyn had the Labour Party Commons Whip removed in 2020 following his response to the Equalities and Human Rights Commission’s report on anti-Semitism in the Labour party.
